TEACHER TRAINING

The Leigh Technology Academy regards teacher training as a key strategy to raising achievement and school improvement. The Academy works in partnership with Kent and Medway Training (KMT) as well as other teacher training providers. KMT is a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider and was recently acknowledged as Outstanding by Ofsted.

We also have close links with the Universities of Kent, Greenwich, London (Institute of Education, King’s College, Imperial College, University College), Oxford, Christ Church Canterbury and the Open University providing training placements for PGCE trainees. Our long established ITT programme is of the highest quality and all subject departments are involved.

The continuing professional development of all staff is of prime importance. We embrace the philosophy of life long learning. The majority of teaching staff at The Leigh are trained mentors and take pride in offering support to trainee teachers. In partnership with KMT, we provide comprehensive induction sessions and practical interactive and weekly training sessions.

If you want any further information about training to become a teacher, please contact Kent and Medway Training.
