The Leigh Technology Academy is proud to offer three specialisms – Business & Enterprise, Sport and Innovation, Design & Technology. Our specialisms impact on all aspects of life within the Academy. In all areas, we aim to be a centre of excellence providing excellent facilities and opportunities for all.

Our specialisms ensure that:

We are committed to promoting an educational culture which is scientific, technological, enterprising and vocational. We strive to:

  • Offer a strong technological and vocational focus
  • Make innovative use of ICT
  • Build and extend partnerships with industry and commerce

Sports specialism

Sport

We aim for excellence in physical education and community sport, extending links between families of schools, sports bodies and communities, sharing resources, developing and spreading good practice. We strive to:

  • Support the Government's aspiration for all young people to have two hours high quality PE per week within and outside the curriculum.
  • Extend provision and facilities to benefit all students of all sporting abilities, whilst also giving those with the greatest potential, opportunities to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable.

Business & Enterprise

Business & Enterprise enriches and extends learning by encouraging economic and business understanding, enterprise activities and opportunities for students to follow a wide range of work related learning pathways. We are committed to:

  • Developing strong curriculum business links and teaching in business education, financial capability, work-related learning and enterprise-related vocational programmes.
  • Enhancing economic and business understanding and a business and enterprise culture including an understanding of the ethical dimension of business, throughout the curriculum.
  • Cultivating a positive attitude toward risk taking and entrepreneurship.
