

LEARNING AREAS
The Leigh Technology Academy has divided its learning programme into ten key areas. Every student will be taught in each of these areas in Key Stage 3, before specialising in Key Stages 4 and 5.

KEY STAGES EXPLAINED
Key Stage 3
Students in Years 7-8 follow an accelerated programme in all Learning Areas. Students currently take SATs at the end of Year 8.
Key Stage 4
Students in Years 9-11 study for a range of GCSE or equivalent courses. The Modular structure of many courses enables students to take units before Year 11.
Key Stage 5
Post 16 students have the option of studying for 1-3 years. Students study for a range of GCE Advanced Level qualifications.
