KS 5 VENDOR IT PROFESSIONALS



Students study for the Level 3 OCR Qualification IT Professionals.  We currently offer two routes for IT Professional, a general route for those students studying in the Oracle Academy or Oracle and courses from Cisco Network Academy and/or Microsoft Academy. The Diploma For IT Professionals is currently worth 100 UCAS points and Certificate For IT Professionals is worth 80 UCAS points.

Diploma For IT Professionals General

  • Unit 1: Customer Support Provision
  • Unit 3: Hardware/Equipment and Systems Installation
  • Unit 29: Investigate Requirements for Software Solutions

Optional Units
5 optional units are required and these may be from the following:

  • Unit 11: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows Professional
  • Unit 12: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows Server
  • Unit 13: IT Essentials II Network Operating Systems
  • Unit 14: Network Fundamentals
  • Unit 15: Router and Routing Basics
  • Unit 16: LAN Switching and Wireless
  • Unit 17: WAN Technologies
  • Unit 18: Network +
  • Unit 23: Security +
  • Unit 25: Wireless LANs
  • Unit 42: Data Modelling and Relational Database Design
  • Unit 43: Programming with SQL
  • Unit 44: Introduction to Java

Certificate For IT Professionals General requires 3 optional from the list above.

All of the courses offered through the Cisco Networking Academy Programme, Microsoft Academy and Oracle Academy programmes can lead to the Industrial Certifications CCNA, MCSA and first part OCA of certification.

Course Books and Equipment

  • It is essential that students have access at home to a computer connected to the Internet and a broadband connection is preferable.

Events and Visits

  • Students can be involved in visits to UK Cisco Systems Headquarters. Oracle Academy and Cisco Networking Academy run competitions for their students. In the past our students have won and travelled to USA, they have also been involved in conferences in France and UK

Key Dates

  • Assignments are spread over the two year course and submitted to OCR Moderator when complete.  The final submission is May of Year 13
