

KS 5 - TRAVEL AND TOURISM
Students study for the BTEC National Award, equivalent to one “A” Level. There are 6 units at this level, 4 of which are compulsory whilst the other 2 are optional chosen from a long list of choices. Each unit investigate in depth various aspects of the Travel and Tourism industry and provides student with the knowledge and skills which enable them to find employment within the industry or to go on to further study at University. Topics covered include:
- The UK as a Tourist Destination
- The development and structure of the industry
- Work Experience
- Long Haul Destinations
- Marketing
- Customer Service
Each unit is assessed by an assignment, there are no examinations. Assessments can take a number of formats including written reports, presentation and taking part in work experience.
Students are required to carry out detailed investigations for each assignment, which requires:
