

KS 5 - APPLIED BUSINESS
Students study the Edexcel qualification. The course allows students to explore the world of business in a practical way. By adopting an investigative approach, students develop a range of business-related skills. There are direct business links to most units. Both Single and Double Award courses are taken over two years and are assessed at AS level (Year 12) and A2 level (Year 13). The Single Award course consists of six equally-weighted units and the Double Award course consists of twelve units.

- Investigating People at Work (examination)
- Investigating Business - a business plan (coursework)
- Investigating Marketing (coursework)
Year 13 A2
- Business Development (a business planning controlled assignment)
- Two additional units from a range of options.
The units of the Double Award course are:
Year 12
- Investigating People at Work (exam)
- Investigating Business (a business plan) (coursework)
- Investigating Marketing (coursework)
- Investigating Promotion (exam)
- Two additional units from a range of options
Year 13
- Business Development (a business planning controlled assignment)
- Marketing Decisions (exam)
- Four additional units from a range of options.
Two thirds of the units are internally assessed through coursework. The rest is externally assessed.
