KS 4 VENDOR
Students are offered OCR IT Practitioner and OCR IT Users qualifications. The Certificate For IT Practitioner is a Level 2 qualification (equivalent to 3 GCSEs A-C). In addition a further Level 2 qualification is also offered that of IT Users through the Microsoft Academy Route. The Diploma of IT Users is equivalent to 2 GSCE Grade B and the Certificate of IT Users is equivalent to 1 GSCE Grade B. The ITQ qualification is 4 GCSEs A-C.
Certificate of IT Practitioner
- Unit 1: Customer Support
- Unit 3: Installing Hardware/Equipment and Systems
- Optional Unit: IT Essentials (offered by Cisco Networking Academy Programme) – it provides the student with a comprehensive overview of computer hardware and software. This course is teacher led but the curriculum is accessed through a VLE with online assessments and student feedback. IT Essentials can lead to the Industrial Certification CompTIA A+.
Diploma For IT Users and ITQ
- Microsoft Office Specialist Exams in all 5 core modules of Office 2003. This qualification can be extended to ITQ by completing an e portfolio.
Certificate For IT Users
- Microsoft Office Specialist Exams in Word core and a further 2 core modules of Office 2003.
All of the courses offered through the Cisco Networking Academy Programme, Microsoft Academy and Oracle Academy programmes can lead to the Industrial Certifications CCNA, MCSA and first part OCA of certification.
Course Books and Equipment
- It is essential that students have access at home to a computer connected to the Internet and a broadband connection is preferable.
Events and Visits
- High scoring students in Microsoft Office modules are eligible for entry into the annual Microsoft Office competition.
Key Dates
- All assignments must be submitted to OCR moderator by May in Year 11.
