KS 4 - MATHEMATICS



Students study the AQA GCSE Mathematics Syllabus B4307. Students complete this modular course over 3 years resulting in one maths GCSE at the end of Year 11. The scheme of assessment includes question papers targeted at two tiers of grades: Foundation (U, G-C) and Higher (U, D-A*).

Year 9
Topics include:

  • Number
  • Thinking skills
  • Algebra and ICT

Assessment
Module 3 (Number 27% of total assessment)
2 x 45 minutes written paper: Section A calculator, section B non-calculator
Students are assessed in June of Year 9.

Year 10
Topics include:

  • Data handling
  • Thinking skills and logic

Assessment
Module 1 (Data Handling 18% of total assessment)
2 x 30 minutes:section A calculator, section B non-calculator
Students are assessed in March of Year 10.

Year 11
Topics include:

  • Number
  • Shape, Space and Measures
  • Algebra
  • Thinking Skills
  • ICT

Assessment
Module 5 (Shape, Space, Measures and Algebra 55% of total assessment)
2 x 1 hour 15 minutes: Paper 1 non-calculator, Paper 2 calculator
Students are assessed in June of Year 11.
