KS 4 - BUSINESS STUDIES

The Edexcel GCSE Business Studies course is designed to give students an understanding of how business works and how business decisions are made. Students apply the knowledge and skills learned in a variety of ways, working with industry and using IT in their coursework and projects. Students visit and study local companies and locations where business activity has an impact.

The course provides students with the opportunity to study key areas of business activity.  These areas include business objectives, external influences on business, human resource management, accounting, finance, marketing and production.

This course provides students with a sound basis for progression to Applied GCE Business or A Level Business Studies.  It helps prepare students to become employees who have a sound understanding of business and who have the ability to use knowledge, skills and understanding appropriately in the context of the UK and European market.

This is a linear course consisting of one examination (at Foundation or Higher tier) based upon a pre-released case study which contributes 75% to the final grade and one piece of written coursework, which contributes 25% to the final grade.
