KS 4 - ENGINEERING

Engineering is offered as a vocational award which is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A*-C. The BTEC First Diploma has no exam and is a practical work related course which is run as a three year programme. Students complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.

Students can be expected to cover:

• Working practices in Engineering
• Using and Interpreting Engineering information
• Applied Electrical and Mechanical science for Technicians
• Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
• Using computer aided drawing techniques in Engineering
• Electronic circuit construction and testing
• Fabrication techniques
• Programming CNC machines

All units are assessed and graded internally with external verification providing the overall grade for the qualification.

• A3 sketchbook, A3 Folder, planner, coloured pencils, drawing pencils, pens, eraser, metric ruler, calculator
