

KS 4 - ELECTRONICS
In Years 9-11, students studying Electronic Products learn about designing and making quality products using appropriate electronic components and construction methods as well as appropriate materials to case the electronics.
This course develops many skills such as technical drawing, ICT skills, problem solving and high quality manufacturing techniques. The course uses a range of specialist equipment, including CAD / CAM.
Students use ICT, including computer aided manufacture to develop, model, test and communicate design proposals. Different societies, age, cultural, environmental and historical issues need to be taken into account in the planning of and designing of these products.
Final GCSE Assessment:
- Major Project – 20+ A3 page coursework folder and practical work and production of a ‘Final Product’ (60% of the total GCSE)
- A two hour written external examination in the final year (40% of the total GCSE)
