KS 4 - DANCE

Dance is currently offering Edexcel BTEC Performing Arts Dance Course. This contains 3 modules:

• Performing Dance
• Understanding Dance
• Contemporary Dance

This is a vocational course which involves students taking responsibility for their own learning within the context of the performing arts industry. Much of the assessment for this course involves performing to target audiences.

Within BTEC, teaching focuses around developing technical, choreographic and analytical skills in Dance. Students also have the opportunity to experience professional performances and workshops as part of an extended curriculum.

We aim to offer a broad range of Dance styles within our extra-curricular activities which encourage participation and enjoyment. After school clubs are being established in Cheerleading, Street Dance, Contemporary Dance for Gifted and Talented students and a Boys Breaking club. We are currently in the process of developing links with Wasted Grace Dance Company to work regularly with our students.
