KS 4 - APPLIED BUSINESS



The course develops the skills and knowledge needed to work in a wide range of businesses. The course consists of three Units:

Unit 1: Investigating Business

  • As a coursework assignment, students investigate two contrasting businesses and find out about their activities, aims and objectives. They look at ownership, location and some of the many other external influences which affect businesses.

Unit 2: People and Business

  • This coursework unit focuses on the work of the Human Resources Department, examining the relationship between employers and employees as well as  staff recruitment, retention and development.

Unit 3: Business Finance

  • In this examination assessed unit, students learn how to complete various financial documents and gain an appreciation of a range of finance tools including budgets, break-even analysis, cash-flow forecasts, profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.

Each unit is equally weighted.
