KS 3 - MUSIC
In Years 7 and 8, students currently study music for one hour a week. They follow a varied and practical curriculum and throughout the two years develop skills in listening and appraising, performing and composing. Students are introduced to a variety of musical styles including:
- African chants and drumming
- Pop music
- Rap
- Blues
- Gamelan
- Jazz
Students also have the opportunity to begin exploring aspects of music technology. This is taught through the use of thirty iMacs which are equipped with Garage Band and Logic Express.
All students have the option of learning a musical instrument either individually or in a small group (no more than four). We currently have specialist teachers in singing, piano, guitar, drums, violin, flute, clarinet and saxophone. These lessons take place on a weekly basis and there are fees applicable.
