KS 3 - MATHEMATICS
Students in Years 7 and 8 follow a course which builds upon the National Numeracy Strategy for primary schools. We aim to develop students’ confidence and pleasure in applying mathematical techniques, while giving them the competencies and understanding to make them fully numerate citizens.
Topics covered include:
- Number
- Shape, space and measurement
- Algebra
- Data handling
- Thinking skills and logic
- Cross curricular applications of maths
- Mathematics in ICT
Year 7 students are assessed at the end of Modules 2, 4 and 6 with the final assessment determining their possible SATs level. The Year 8 SATs consist of 3 sections – calculator, non-calculator and a mental arithmetic section.
