KS 3 - DRAMA



In Years 7 and 8 students follow a structured curriculum, which covers core Drama styles, skills, and techniques. Students are assessed regularly on developing, performing, and evaluating skills in line with the National Curriculum using the Arts Council level descriptors. Students develop key life skills, such as teamwork, communication, confidence, creative expression, problem solving, and negotiation.

In Year 7 students study the following modules:

  • Introduction to Drama
  • Storytelling
  • Improvisation
  • Myths and Legends
  • Conflict
  • Script

Year 8 study the following modules:

  • Melodrama
  • Crime and Punishment
  • History of Theatre
  • A play by Shakespeare
  • Comedy
  • Non Naturalistic Theatre

Students are set 1 to 2 pieces of individual study work each module, which directly informs their work in Drama.

  • Sketch pad, planner, pen, pencil, ruler, eraser

Events and Visits

  • Year 7 – Trip to see a pantomime
  • Year 8 – Trip to see a Shakespeare production
