HOW WE HELP OTHER SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

Academies are publicly funded independent schools that provide a first class free education to local students of all abilities. They bring a distinctive approach to school leadership drawing on the skills of sponsors and other supporters.

The Leigh Technology Academy has been sponsored by Kent County Council to work closely with schools to raise standards and improve the life opportunities for students in the Dartford and local communities.

Kent County Council has created a new academy in Longfield. Axton Chase school has become Longfield Academy. The Longfield Academy is federated to The Leigh Technology Academy which is the lead sponsor with co-sponsors Kent County Council (KCC) and the University of Kent.

The Longfield Academy will move into its new buildings which are expected to be built for completion in September 2010 on the same site, adjacent to the current premises.

The Leigh Technology Academy has strong links with primary schools. Year 6 students attend Master Classes in Design and Technology throughout the year.
